Government giving utmost priority to infrastructure Development: Gadkari

New Delhi: On Saturday, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India, said that the government is giving utmost priority to the development of infrastructure within the country. He said that a target for constructing roads worth Rs 15 lakh crore in the next two years has been set up. According to him, the MoRTH will successfully achieve the target of constructing 40 kilometres of highways per day in the current fiscal.

He informed everyone that the government has permitted 100 per cent FDI in the road sector. He also said that the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) for 2019-2025 is a first-of-its-kind project in India. Through this project, the government aims to improve quality of lives for its citizens by providing world-class infrastructure. He said that more than 7,300 projects are to be implemented under the NIP, at a total outlay of Rs 111 lakh crore by year 2025.

Gadkari said NIP is trying to improving project preparation, and attract investment into infrastructure like highways, railways, ports, airports, mobility, energy and agriculture and rural industry. He also invited the US companies to invest in infrastructure and MSME sectors in India.
