PANAJI: The state of Goa, which not long ago earlier declared as a green zone due to no positive case, has now registered 10 fresh cases since May 13. The virus was brought back to the state by when a Vasco family travelled back to the state from Kolkata. Three out of the seven cases tested positive for the virus, Vishwajit Rane, Health Minister, Goa, confirmed. The swab samples were sent to the Goa Medical College and Hospital and all of the new suspect arrivals are under institutional quarantine, the minister confirmed.
Three out of seven Vasco residents, who returned from Kolkata, have tested positive for COVID-19, taking the case count in Goa to 11, a state minister said on Saturday. At least three out of seven men, who had travelled to Gangapur in Kolkata to deliver barges and arrived in Goa on Friday, have contracted the infection, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said. All of the infected persons have been quarantined. The seven cases which had been reported earlier were of a family of five travelling back to their home state of Goa with their driver, thus, making apparent the consequences that might entail reopening of interstate travel for the previously declared ‘green zones’ of India. This also include a one year old.
