GMDA nod to new broadband network for Gurugram

GURGAON: The meeting of Executive Committee of Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal was held at the Golden Jubilee Public Works Department of Rest House, in which many proposals like, the CCTV cameras in the city, the establishment of the Water Buying station in Sector 72, laying of drinking water supply lines in Sector 58 and setting rates of water and sewerage in new sectors up to 115 were announced to propose.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister was told that 1926 CCTV cameras will be installed at 358 places to strengthen the surveillance system in Gurgaon town. For this, the work of laying optical fibre cables in the city has been started. All of these cameras will be connected to the Command Control Center. It was also informed in the meeting that through this fibre cable, all kind of smart services will be provided in the city and such a fibre cabling Gurgaon will be the first city in the country.

“CCTV, connected through fibre cables to a central command control centre, will be installed across Gurgaon and Manesar. There will be around 60,000 cameras which will keep an eye on the city and help maintain law and order,” said Khattar in the meeting.

Feed of fibre cable will be provided in all government departments, police stations, schools, and institutions. It will also offer internet and Wi-Fi access. Almost 60000 CCTV cameras in the shopping malls and other private institutions in the city will also be connected with this network and the control will remain with GMDA. This facility will also help in traffic management. Traffic rule will arrive home on invoicing.

About 65 crore rupees will be spent on the project, out of which Rs 25 crore will be spent by the Haryana Police Department. The first phase of the project will be completed in 9 months, under which 600 Km roads of Gururgram-Manesar Urban Complex Development Scheme will be covered. It was also informed in the meeting that the video feed to be captured in these CCTV cameras would be available for seven days in the camera and 30 days in the Command Control Center.

For lying of firepower cables, the area under GMG-Manesar Urban Complex Development Scheme is divided into 6 parts by GMDA. E-invoices for those violating traffic rules will be automatically cut under this project. In addition, there will be cooperation in curbing crime. Buying stations will be made in Sector 72.

In the meeting, sanction was also made to set up a water buying station in Sector 72, which would cost around Rs. 67 crores. This will supply drinking water in Sector 58 to 80 and its capacity will be 24 thousand kiloliters. In the meeting, Chief Minister Manohar Lal also approved the proposal for laying the lines of pagefile supply in sector 58 to 115. About 227 crores will be spent on this project. In Gurgaon, the proposal of GMDA to fix the supply of water at 9 rupees per kiloliter, on which the Chief Minister apprised. It was informed in the meeting that the GMDA will start a separate bi-tariff of water and sewerage from October 1st.
