HYDERABAD: In a bid to maintain and to keep 709 kilometers of major roads operational thoroughfares in Hyderabad, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to launch its Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP) on December 10.
DS Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC, on December 04, said the bids for CRMP had been finalised to maintain 401 stretches covering 709 km in Hyderabad. The project will be carried out by private agencies and the estimated cost of project is nearly Rs 1,827 crore which would be released over a period of five years.
Work on reducing the traffic loads on major roads is also being held simultaneously, by working on parallel and link roads and if necessary land acquisitions to remove the bottle necks. Proposal have also been submitted to GHMC to develop at 10 km stretch in each zone under civic body.
The agencies which will be working on maintenance the roads were also directed to take responsible actions to maintain greenery on side of roads and other related works.
