Due to sudden surge in cases, centre sends high-level team to Kerala

NEW DELHI: The Government of India, on Wednesday, January 6, sent a high-level team to Kerala to assist the state in public health management due to increased cases of COVID-19. The statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, said that the central government has deployed a high-level team headed by Dr S K Singh, Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), to Kerala.

The ministry stated that Kerala has been affected due to high number of daily COVID-19 infections since the past few days. The team will review the health management system in the state and support the health authorities in its measures, it added. A total of 35,038 cases were reported in the last seven days with an average of 5,000 new cases daily.
