The tower with 102-meter height, was built at a cost of 250 crores and comprise of 3 buildings namely, the aerodrome control tower, area approach control services building, and the administrative block. Another Rs 100 crore were spent on modern air navigation systems and advanced automation systems to enhance safety and the capacity of air traffic operations.

The aim behind the construction of the new ATC tower is to enhance the operational visibility for the ATC personnel and hence increase the efficiency at the busiest airport in India. The tower enables air traffic controllers to have better visibility of all the three runways, apron area and taxiways.
