Delhi to get 5 oxygen plants at 5 hospitals as part of CSR initiative

NEW DELHI: Delhi is soon to get five Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) based oxygen plants at five different hospitals of the North and South Delhi Municipal Corporations by next month as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The Petronet Liquefied Natural Gas (PLNG) Ltd, a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, will install three PSA-based oxygen generation plants at three hospitals of the North Delhi Municipal Corporations (NDMC).

The Hindu Rao Hospital, Balak Ram Hospital and the Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine and Tuberculosis (RBIPMT) will each get a plant with a capacity of producing 1000 litres per minute. Sanjay Goel, Commissioner, NDMC, said that the corporation will make all the necessary civil and electrical engineering instalments and the location will be decided soon. Goel added that the three hospitals already have the storage tanks and the plants will suck the oxygen from the air and create it such that it can be used directly.

Goel further said that the Hindu Rao Hospital has 270 beds with 15 ICU beds and RBIPMT has 100 oxygen beds. Balak Ram Hospital opened 25 beds with oxygen concentrators to the public on Saturday, May 8.
