Delhi starts next phase of sero-prevalence studies

NEW DELHI: The Government of Delhi’s next round of monthly sero-prevalence surveys started on Tuesday, September 1, covering all 272 municipal wards to analyse the COVID-19 situation in Delhi at a ‘micro-level’. Satyendar Jain, Minister of Health, Government of Delhi, said that the sample size this time will be 17,000 and sample collection will continue for a total of seven days. Results of the last sero-prevalence study had revealed that 29.1 per cent people in Delhi had developed antibodies against the novel coronavirus.

Moreover, sample collection for this survey will be done district-wise in order to analyse the COVID-19 situation in the city at a micro-level. Jain said that the results of the last survey revealed that 28.3 per cent males and 32.2 per cent females showed prevalence of antibodies. Sero-prevalence of antibodies against COVID-19 found in the age group of less than 18 was 34.7 per cent, in 18-50 years 28.5 per cent, and 31.2 per cent in 50 years and above.
