Delhi received 269.9 mm of rainfall in August; highest in a decade

NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) data reveals that the national capital has received a record rainfall this August. Delhi has received 269.9 mm of rainfall this August, which is the highest ever in the last decade.

Before this, the highest rainfall in August was recorded in 2012, when the city received 378 mm of rainfall. IMD also highlighted that the total number of rainy days has also gone beyond expectations. The mean number of rainy days in August generally stands at 10.2 days, while in 2024, as of August 23, the number of rainy days has increased to 12 days. A day is considered a rainy day if more than 2.4 mm of rainfall is reported in a day.
