NEW DELHI: The Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA), appointed by the Supreme Court directed on January 31, 2019, that all vehicles in Delhi and other areas under National Capital Region (NCR) should have holographic fuel stickers before October 2019.

EPCA instructed to ensure that all the vehicles – old and new; private & commercial; cars, trucks and buses should have a colour coded sticker until October 2019, indicating the fuel which propels the vehicle.

In a meeting, Sunita Narayan, member of EPCA told the officials of the Transport Department of NCR states and the vehicle manufacturers that all the new vehicles are required to have the colour coded number plates and there is a need to locate a system for existing vehicles. The meeting was held to discuss the colour scheme of stickers for vehicles so that they can be identified and if necessary can be banned from the capital’s roads in the days of poor air quality.

As per the EPCA directions, petrol and CNG vehicles must put light-blue stickers on their windscreens, diesel vehicles must have orange stickers, and electric and hybrid vehicles must use green stickers.
