Delhi-Mumbai expressway fast tracked: Gadkari

GURUGRAM: The construction of the high speed road corridor connecting Delhi and Mumbai is well on track, ensured Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways. Speaking at the inauguration of the International Centre for Automotive Technology Summit, the Union Minister said that the project of the development of the signal-free expressway has been put on fast track and the land acquisition for the project is almost complete.

“We have allocated Rs 1 lakh crore for the construction of the Delhi-Mumbai high-speed road corridor, which will connect Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. It will be the longest axis control expressway and will benefit agricultural and industrial growth of these states,” Gadkari said.

Gadkari also said that the pace of the construction is 30 km per day. At this pace, several roads in and near Delhi like KMP, KGP and other national highway projects, like Dwarka expressway, ring road in Delhi and the southern peripheral road (SPR) are currently under development.
