NEW DELHI: The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has recorded 554 violations of dust and pollution control measures during 96 inspection visits in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad from September 15 to October 7.
Inspection visits observed 287 violations in Delhi, 61 in Noida, 32 in Gurugram and 39 in Ghaziabad.
Out of 554, 41 per cent violations were due to open storage and dumping of construction and demolition waste, 14 per cent due to dumping of waste in open areas, 13 per cent for unpaved roads, traffic congestion caused 7 per cent, 5 per cent due to re-suspension of road dust. Open burning of biomass and other sources contributed 3 per cent and 17 per cent respectively.
The board has planned more visits, including a five-day campaign starting from October 15.
