HYDERABAD: Anil Kumar Singhal, Principal Health Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh, said that the analysis of the COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh (AP) displays that number of COVID-19 positive cases per lakh population is more in urban areas in comparison to rural.
During a press brief, he said that out of the total 1,42,707 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in AP between May 16 and May 22, 88,649 cases were reported in rural areas, which contributes to 61 per cent of the total. He added that this information without full context can mislead and create panic among people residing in rural areas of the state. This is so because number of new COVID-19 cases per lakh population is 383 in urban areas and 248 in rural areas.
Singhal informed that number of dishcarges have improved in state’s hospitals and COVID care Centres in comparison to admissions. Availablity of ICU beds and oxygen stocks has also improved.
