CHENNAI, Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Municipal Corporation drops to 44th position in the latest Swachh Survekshan national rankings 2022, which was released on October 1, 2022. The President of India Droupadi Murmu felicitated the winners in an award ceremony held in Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi.

This time three local bodies of Tamil Nadu have recorded their presence in the national rankings. These three local bodies include Coimbatore (42nd position) followed by Chennai (44th position) and Madurai (45th position). In the last Swachh Survekshan held in 2021, Chennai secured 43rd position, while in 2020 the civic body was ranked 45th.

Earlier in 2022, a team of representatives from Chennai Municipal Corporation and Tambaram Corporation conducted a field visit to Indore to study the best practices followed there.
