LUCKNOW: With the aim of improving the cleanliness of its bus service, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will now install CCTVs in every bus depot under its jurisdiction and follow the mobile app-based monitoring system. The UPSRTC will put the new system into effect from March 2, 2020.
According to Raj Shekhar, Managing Director, UPSRTC, two CCTVs will be installed in each depot at the bus cleaning site. The cameras will record the footage of bus cleaning on a daily basis. He further said that the corporation will launch the ‘Bus Cleaning Data Management Application’ by February 15, 2020. With this, the UPSRTC aims to regulate the cleaning services provided by private contractors. Further, the corporation will only release payments of contractors and out-sourced staff after cross-checking the cleaning work carried out by them using the CCTV footage and the mobile app. Footage of cleaning work will be recorded both from the inside and the of outside the bus.
Shekhar further said, “CCTV and mobile app will also register the date, time and location by ‘Time & Location Stamping’ System so that no one plays with the CCTV footage and the mobile app data.” It will be mandatory to keep three months’ data of CCTV for cross verification by senior officials from time to time, he added.
