BMC to set up more vending machines in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Odisha: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to set up 50 more vending units around the campus wall of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the capital city of Bhubaneswar.

The project is a subset of the Mukhya Mantri Karma Tatpara Abhiyan (MUKTA), a flagship scheme of the Government of Odisha, which also encompasses various other programmes in its ambit. As per Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Sulochana Das, with the help of this project, the state government will be able to accelerate the process of women empowerment and also enhance the skill level of Mission Shakti Groups.

The total estimated cost of the model vending zone project stands at Rs 0.68 lakhs, with each unit costing Rs 83,700 to the government. The construction will be done on 22,000 square feet of land close to a Sulabh Sauchalaya complex at the CRPF campus gate, by the Shaktimayee Area Level Federation (ALF). The construction area comes under ward 15 of South west zone.

Das along with Manjulata Kanhar, Deputy Mayor, and Susanta Kumar Rout, MLA were present during the foundation laying ceremony of the project, which was held around 9:30 in the morning on June 8. Binaya Kumar Dash, Additional Commissioner, BMC, Arun Kumar Nayak, City Engineer, BMC, and Ravinarayan Jethi, Zonal Deputy Commissioner, South West Zone, BMC were also present at the foundation laying ceremony.
