MUMBA: In a bid to improve sanitation facilities for women in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed to use an old bus and convert it into a mobile toilet for women. The mobile toilet will be equipped with a television system and Wifi facility for the women. The idea has been taken from Pune’s ‘Ti’ toilet concept which was launched in 2017 on the occasion of women’s day. ‘Ti’ in Marathi refers to ‘She’ and it also stands for ‘Toilet Integration’.

BMC will be implementing the idea on the Marine Drive service road in Mumbai. The bus will be equipped with female hygiene products and a digital feedback mechanism for better services, among other features. The buses will also feature advertisements to generate revenue. Of the total, 90 per cent of the revenue generated would go to the operator and 10 per cent will be given to the BMC.
