ANANTAPUR: With the rise of pollution in the state, the State government of Andhra Pradesh on November 05, issued an order to form new regulatory body for management of growing waste in the state. The new regulatory body will be called Andhra Pradesh Environment Management Corporation (APEMC), which will work in coordination with Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB).

The new body is expected to provide solid framework for effective management for collection, transportation, storage, treatment, processing, delivery and disposal of waste generated in the state from sources such as industries, households, other bulk waste generators etc.

Currently, the growing number of bulk waste generators in the State are categorised in orange and red categories, and are responsible for generating significant quantities of hazardous and non-hazardous solid waste, liquid waste and air pollutants.

The new body will also work on scientifically disposing off the waste for environment protection and it will also follow the ‘platform business model’.
