Anganwadi workers to be among first to get vaccinated in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K K Shailaja, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Kerala, said that the COVID-19 vaccine registration process has entered the final stage in the state. She added in a tweet that Anganwadi workers are to be among the first to receive the vaccination. Healthcare workers and medical students were among the first lot of people to get vaccinated which will now include around 27,000 ASHA (Accredited Self Health Activist) workers.

Shailaja said that registrations at the district level have been completed for all the government-run institutions with 4,065 employees and 81 per cent has been completed in private institutions with 4,557 employees. All the employees of Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kannur are registered for the vaccination.

Students are registered from all the health institutions including medical, dental, nursing and paramedical. Employees from modern medicine, Ayush and homeopathy have also been considered in the process. Shailaja informed that a state-level committee is formed to supervise the distribution of vaccine. The State Nodal Officer and State Admin have been assigned essential duties regarding the distribution of vaccine. District Nodal Authority has been formed in all the districts under the State Nodal Officer.
