Andhra Pradesh to have green airports

Airport Authority of India has commenced installation of 1 MWp solar power plants at Tirupathi and Vijaywada Airports in Andhra Pradesh. In a bid to support energy efficiency in our country, Government of India is encouraging greener airports. Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) became the first airport in the world to be completely powered by solar energy.

The AAI has set up solar power plants with a total capacity of 12.84 MWp at various 29 locations and airports for its captive power consumption based on the capacity permissible under the Net-Metering policy of states
