NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh is ready to give away the largest tender for Solar Power Projects in the country, with the capacity of 10 gigawatts (GW). The Request for Proposal (RFP) is ready to float and the bids will be taken based on the land updates. The project is developed at a time when Solar Power tariff has touched a record low of Rs 2.36 per unit by Centre-owned Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
The implementation of tender and associated projects will add a lot of value to the nation’s 34.6 GW of solar power generation capacity. It will also help in the Government of India’s goal of generating 100 GW of solar power by 2022 before India completes 75 years of independence. Andhra Pradesh is already the second-largest generator of clean and renewable energy with a capacity of around 7.7 GW of solar and wind power generation. It accounts for 10 per cent of the total green energy capacity of the nation.
