MUMBAI: On Sunday, Aaditya Thackeray, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Maharashtra attended the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 3.0, launched by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 3.0 is an initiative by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Maharashtra to spread awareness amongst citizens about the adverse impacts of climate change and encourage them to take steps for environmental presentation.
The event was co-hosted by the Maharashtra Government and the Isha Foundation in Mumbai to collaborate on food security, sustainable farming, organic agricultural techniques, and other activities to proactively safeguard soil in the state. The event was attended by a number of experts from the UN Environment Programme, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Food Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
The program’s focus will be on identifying potential action points for the betterment of environment for the local bodies in Maharashtra. It also aims to connect with every citizen at the individual level through the e-pledge. It aims to tie up with government institutions (Majhi Vasundhara Summit), local and global corporate entities (Majhi Vasundhara Corporates), and brings all national and international non-profit organisations (Majhi Vasundhara Non-profit) under one umbrella to bring about change. Majhi Vasundhara also includes education component. It has taken up initiatives to inculcate green values in future generations by developing a curriculum for the school students in Maharashtra (Majhi Vasundhara Curriculum). The curriculum will be implemented by the Department of Education and Sports, Government of Maharashtra, in the next academic year.
