JAMMU/ SRINAGAR: The seventh phase of Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Polls 2018 held on December 4, recorded 75.3 per cent voter turnout.

84.8 per cent voters exercised their franchise in Jammu division. While 30.3 per cent voters cast their vote in the Kashmir Division.

The highest voter turnout of 86.7 per cent was recorded in Reasi district of Jammu division. Whereas in Kashmir Division, Kupwara district recorded highest polling percentage of 44.9 per cent.

Polling took place for 341 sarpanch and 1798 panch seats, with 5575 candidates in fray. 85 Sarpanch and 912 Panch were elected unopposed in this phase.

2714 polling stations were set up including 576 in Kashmir Division and 2138 in Jammu Division. 892 stations out of these were categorized as Hypersensitive including 428 in Kashmir Division and 464 in Jammu Division.

Polling didn’t take place in Kashmir’s three districts – Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian due to non-availability of contestants.
